Re: NFL teams blitzing in preseason?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] This seems like a relatively new development. Since offensive teams don't scheme for particular defenses, this seems like it would give the defense the upper hand and really endanger the QB. This leads to teams not playing their #1s much at all, which in turn even further dilutes the product. Not terribly fair to the season ticket holders, who get raped for full price for 2 exhibition games per year (adding ~50% to the price). Thoughts? [/ QUOTE ] I would think that a fan who follows a team enough to own season tickets would want to get a chance to see the young and upcoming players that are trying to make the team. [/ QUOTE ] except that for the most part, the guys who do make the team serve a limited role - it's not like baseball or hockey where the guy might be a star in 3 years |

[/ QUOTE ] Turn on ESPN and see how full the stadium is. That game is technically a sellout. Every empty seat you see is a season ticket holder who didn't show up. I'm one of them. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] season ticket holders having to pay for 2 meaningless games is a raw deal. [/ QUOTE ] I was under the impression that season tickets didn't include preseason games. [/ QUOTE ] I have season tickets to the Redskins and I have to buy preseason tickets at the same price as regular season games. Going to preseason games SUCKS. |

I was downtown for class too Seriously, I know the obvious reason, but why has no team done a "half-price day" for a PS game or something. Is the revenue really that much? I'm almost certain that it isn't, and I'm fairly certain that if they exempted season ticket holders from that game (Don't charge them and don't give them a ticket) it would be a good way to get some new blood in the stadium. Cody [/ QUOTE ] a lot of teams just don't need the "new blood". season ticket waiting lists are years long for many teams. also, there is probably some collusion among owners that would prevent this. |

Cody [/ QUOTE ] Many NFL teams sell out (or very nearly) on season tickets alone. The ones that don't usually force you to buy a preseason ticket if you want to buy a single game ticket to a one of the best regular season games. |

Re: NFL teams blitzing in preseason?
[ QUOTE ]
season ticket holders having to pay for 2 meaningless games is a raw deal. [/ QUOTE ] Wrong. Nobody is forced to pay for anything. The team offers a package of something like "8 home games, plus two exhibition games, plus priority for playoffs for $xxxxxx/seat". If you want to pay it, you do. If you don't want to, you don't. Plenty of people want to pay it. It's not like a season ticket holder later gets told "oh, by the way, you owe us an additional $200 for the preseason games". If somebody agrees to pay for something, it's not a raw deal. Josh |

[/ QUOTE ] No [censored]. People like to go see the real games. In many cases, the only way to do that is to also pay for the crappy games.
