[ QUOTE ]
So maybe preflop was as easy as I thought it was. Hero caps, Blinds & UTG fold, UM calls, Hijack calls. Flop (14SB): Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UM checks, hijack checks, hero bets, UM raises, hijack 3-bets, hero caps. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, that's what I did. Here is why: (1) I still gave very little credit to either of the other players. They may have a piece of this board, but it was just as likely that they wanted to test my continuation bet. (2) Given the action in the game and the size of the pot, I thought I would get a lot more information from the other two players bet (or non-bet) on the turn than if I just called behind. (3) If I just called the flop it was likely that either UM would cap it right here and, if not, likely that I would be facing at least one bet (possibly two) on the turn. Please tell me why I am wrong (because I probably am). |

I don't think capping the flop is awful, but I'd like to see how the rest of the flop plays out and possibly be able to get in 2 bets on the turn. I don't think Maniac caps here with anything: right now all he's done is raise your cbet which could mean any number of things. He wasn't expecting a check-3bet and that should slow him down considerably.
This hand sucks when you call, he calls, he leads the blank turn and the semi-lag raises. But other than that, so far so good I think. |

TMTTR, I like the flop cap for the reasons you've brought up, especially #1

fold preflop. they're not all idiots. [/ QUOTE ] The maniac's hand is random and our hand is well above the average hand for the 3-bettor (as I tried to indicate in my original post) and you have position. Why do you fold? |

Depends on the hijack.

Depends on the hijack. [/ QUOTE ] Given his laggy image and his immediate seat switch to be directly to the right of maniac, I think this hand is worthy of a cap. |

I think this hand is worthy of a cap. [/ QUOTE ] Perhaps it is.. But I tend to take the line of waiting for a cinch against these types of players.. I'd fold PF but I'd cap that flop... JT |
