Do you have any educational background for banking? That will help you move up the ranks.

Re: Working in a Bank?
I've worked for a bank for the last two years as a commercial loan analyst. Pay is good, work is not that hard, don't have to deal with customers a lot. Advancement means becoming a loan officer, and their salary is mostly commissions-based. Loan officers schmooze a lot, but they also have to get and keep customers. Competing banks try to steal our customers all the time...and we try to steal theirs.
On the retail side, it's all a sales game. Seems that everyone but the tellers has weekly sales goals that they have to meet. Very customer-oriented and sales driven. Yes, people get all bent out of shape over their money...usually, the ones who handle it the worst are also the ones who blow up the most. On that side, advancement means eventually becoming a branch manager. Lots of room for advancement in commercial and retail, I think. Either way, it's definitely a desk job. ScottieK |

Re: Working in a Bank?
I worked two summers for soveriegn helping them integrate their new loan portfolios. Whats the deal with all the people who sit there are type all day. It was like a factory.
Also, if you are good you could get a better job at a real collections agency. |
