Re: CO vs UTG+1 at 6max
What are the borderline hands you're pitching from UTG+1? What do you do with small pairs if UTG folds/raises/openlimps?
If the players to my left are tight, I tend to open more liberally with big cards (KQ) with the assumption they'll fold I'll get position on the blinds with a superior hand. If the players to my left are loose and deep, I'm a lot more inclined to open suited connectors and baby pairs here - but I'll play less hands like KJ that are easily dominated and tricky OOP. It really just depends on the type of players the CO and Button are. If they fold a lot, raise liberally and buy the button often. If they cold call a lot, stay away from easily dominated hands and play more sc's and pairs to try to catch them. Often times you can raise from UTG+1, get a call from the button only, and then donk right into him on ragged looking boards (Kxx etc) - or even c/r the flop if he's overly aggro. A lot of times at this level you'll find people from the button calling with stuff like AJ/AQ/pairs, and just pitching on the flop if they don't connect (which they usually won't). Hope this helps! |
