Re: Is Phil lying about his mega-money off the table?
At the end of the Heads Up championship, Ted Forrest talked about losing 3.8 million in one session. So, if he can afford to lose that much, what is his yearly intake?
Has to be a huge number, and he isn't even an "endorsement magnet" like Hellmuth. |

That was against Beal so it's like 3.8/10

Re: Is Phil lying about his mega-money off the table?
I dunno about 400 million, thats in Tiger Woods league and he's no where even within sneezing distance of endorsements like that. His book was a NY times bestseller([censored] as it is) plus his endorsements and poker winnings, investments, ect. I'd put him around 100 mil

Re: Is Phil lying about his mega-money off the table?
An interview I heard with Phil on tv recently had him saying that he was taking care of his family with a lot of business ventures/investments. He mentioned that he has an ownership stake in Cardplayer Magazine. That probably does VERY well for him, certainly not all of the $400M, but he might be involved in some other things of that nature that really bring in the big bucks.

Re: Is Phil lying about his mega-money off the table?
I think he was stressing the importance of his self-promotion saying that what he makes at the tables is nowhere near what he expects to make off it (the 400 mill). Not that he has made or is already worth that amount.

i was saying 100mil net worth btw. Not per year [/ QUOTE ] Thank god you corrected that because I was laughing very hard. I still doubt that his net worth is anywhere near $100M though. People underestimate how hard it is to accumulate that much in assets. The tax man takes out a large chunk and all your expenses come out too. Book deals - even for those that become bestsellers - are not that lucrative unless you are JK Rowling. Owning a few homes equals maybe $5-7M assuming he has 100% equity in them and isn't paying a mortgage. Cars don't build up enough value. Stocks and bonds are good but he'd have to be socking huge amounts of cash away for years to build it up that high. |
