Re: WSOP Europe announced

Looks like that 3rd event or whatever is a $20k USD entry fee. [/ QUOTE ] If the poker sites promote (spread a lot of satellites) this like mad and If 18 year olds are allowed in, what are the odds of having 4500+ people in this event? |

Re: WSOP Europe announced
[ QUOTE ]
If and when Harrah's gets a big enough building in Europe (either the Manchester supercasino if Harrah's were to win the bid, or the new Caesars properties in Spain or Slovenia), one should not be surprised if the WSOP itself were to move to Europe so that Harrah's can take offshore online gaming advertising money again. [/ QUOTE ] I know very little about casinos in europe but im probably right when i guess that there is not 1 casino in europe which can hold the wsop main event. Unless of course things get so bad for online poker to the point poker sites don't even have satellites to the tournament anymore (and the entrants are reduced to less than 2k) |

Re: WSOP Europe announced
I can't imagine HORSE is but one assumes Harrah's is trying to get people to like it.
WPT and EPT events are 18+ so I don't think Harrah's will raise the age limit to 21. A £10,000 entry fee!? I can see a few poker players raising their hackles on that one. I have no idea as to which European casino is large enough or has an airplane hanger for a cardroom like the Rio has, to house something like the WSOP Main Event. Apparently the Cafe de Paris is the largest though (good Gawd, that looks garish! ). |

Re: WSOP Europe announced
Maybe the current casinos aren't too big, but a new one will be built in Manchester that should do the job - probably take a couple of years to finish though. Having said that, a developer was building one in London (they expected to win the bid that went to Manchester) - by all acounts their "casino" was well on the way to being built. Perhaps they could get a temporary licence for a one-off event?

A £10,000 entry fee!? I can see a few poker players raising their hackles on that one. [/ QUOTE ] Yah, I think it should be 20k or 25k GBP. Harrah's probably wants to have a "world" class event, and a high entry fee to draw a lot of the top players from Amercia. With a 3k or 5k GBP entry fee I think it would be more of a regional/UK event, as I don't think many Vegas & California players would want to travel all the way to high cost London. I hope the structure is commensurate with the buy-in. |

I don't it will get that high, but a 500-600 person $20k buy-in event would be pretty big. |
