Re: 14 card NL Omaha...does anyone fold?
Omaha doesn't have to have 4 hole cards. 5-card and 6-card Omaha are played for decent stakes in casinos in Europe all the time. I've even played them in casinos in the US actually late at night when the players all agree.
On this hand, if you care about the money at all, you should fold though. You've only got one ace (so one nut suit, K-hi suits won't matter) and you've got trips in your hand as well as a low pair that's almost worthless. Basically in order, here are the card combos that would be helpful in this game: 1) Suited aces (since a flush will often be the nuts) 2) High pairs (for full houses and the occasional nut set) 3) High cards (for full houses) 4) Connected cards (for when no flush or board pair comes) |

Re: 14 card NL Omaha...does anyone fold?
Thanks for all the response...
We play all our games NL, even 7 stud hilo (which is really weird). This variation was an exception...sometimes, when it is late and we're bored we'll deal more hole cards...sometimes a LOT more . I figured I wasn't in great shape, but it was the last hand of the evening, I was only in for one buy and down about $100. I wanted to gamble and have fun...after all, playing stoopid poker is more fun (but less profitable) than winning poker! As for our rules, just like Omaha except with fourteen cards. Can only play two in hand/three on board. No discards. |
