Re: New Game Idea - Needs tweaking
OK, I've taken this idea, and worked towards something a little more interesting, I think.
New concept, details to be determined. Each player starts out with a number of items, and money as before. Everybody gets the same. There's 4 or 5 different types. Each player has to gather a specific combination of items - for example, 3 blue widets and 10 red widgets. There are teams - 3 or 4, depending on the number of players. Players negotiate during day phase, as before. The goal is to get all your items, and then be on the team that gets the goal money amount. The player that gathered all their items first, on that team, wins the game. Like above, the team makes offers to get players on their team, using money or items. Players can also arrange individual deals during the day, and can make an individual offer to another individual player at night. Thoughts/tweaks/suggestions/more comments that this game sucks? |

Re: New Game Idea - Needs tweaking
Why would you ever let someone else have a chance to win by offering up items?

Re: New Game Idea - Needs tweaking
Ok, let me reread the rules.
Here the big problem: Why do you want other people to accept your bribe? And what happens when some teams accept the bribe, and others don't? There are two ways to gain an advantage in this game: Getting the bonus. Accepting bribes. Note what I have not put on here: Giving out bribes. Offering bribes is only useful as a method to get the bonus. Because there is no advantage to giving other people money, even if they will be "on your team," so to speak. Also, you can offer up even higher bribes. But obviously, there is no advantage to giving out bribes, so y'know how it goes. Having a reasonably large bribe accepted and not getting the bonus is an absolute disaster. As for the item idea, the same idea is in effect. Actually having your bribe be accepted is just terrible, isn't it? No, it isn't, if it's only just money. However, there is no way to gain items except for teams to offer them up. There is no advantage to offering items in a bribe unless you already have managed to find people to offer items in a bribe (and have gained the majority of the items you need already). Basically, it comes down to this: No one wants to have their bribe accepted. No rational player will offer any kind of reasonable bribe. I don't think this is what you want, but it'd certainly be interesting. |
