He probably was just giving you a hard time and he and his crew had a good laugh when you left.
On an unrelated note, I work with many african americans. The biggest laugh I've gotten there was when one black woman was telling me and some other co-workers (also black) how she only liked french fries that were white (not cooked too long.) I said: "That's discrimination!" and the everybody busted up laughing.

Lots of black people enjoy f-ing with white people. Payback for all the [censored] they've had to deal with their entire life. Don't try and use statistics, just say "Sorry, I was wrong. What I said was [censored] up." Also, everyone is a bit racist. Just a fact of life. You need to realize this, and act appropriately. Try not to let on that you are afraid of black people because you feel like they all carry guns and are going to use them on you.
