Re: wow Ireland doesn\'t joke around when it comes to anti-speeding ads
These ads would have been much more effective without the freak accidents. Why couldn't the innocent kids have been in the back seat of another car?
And who in the world thought up the catch phrase for the first one: "The faster the speed, the bigger the mess" ????? Sounds like advice a paramedic would give to the new guy on the shift. "How fast were they going?" "70kph" "Ooo, this is going to be a messy one. You know what they say, the faster the speed, the bigger the mess." |

HOLY CRAP! I cried a little bit but those were seriously crazy; I wonder why there aren't ads like that in America?

'Cause you guys are weak.
Someone would probably file a complaint about being traumatized by the ad. |

Re: wow Ireland doesn\'t joke around when it comes to anti-speeding ads
Speed doesn't kill - inappropriate use of speed does, however. When someone is shot, they aren't killed "because the bullet was traveling so fast". They were killed because someone pointed a gun at them and pulled the trigger. There's no excuse for speeding in built up areas, but money spent on these kind of adverts would be better spent on campaigns to educate people on observation, anticipation and "smart" driving. Speed is the main contributing factor in a small percentage of accidents. Failure to read the situation correctly, failure to observe the situation properly, etc, account for a much larger percentage. |
