I'm definitely planning on doing Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, Prague, Munich (Oktoberfest), and probably London/Ireland. What do you guys think about places like Estonia, Athens, Vienna, Lisbon, etc.?

[/ QUOTE ] This list is in dire need of some Switzerland, among other things. Go to Lauterbrunnen, but don't stop at Interlaken--that town is just at the bottom of one of the most beautiful valleys on the planet. That's also closer to Paris than 4 out of your 5 top places to see.

Estonia, Athens, and Lisbon all probably need more than a weekend. I've only been to Athens, but Tallinn (Estonia) is one of my top places to see, and Lisbon also sounds great. Vienna would be cool too, and also a more practical weekend trip from Paris.

I think you could find some cool places closer to Paris, however: the French Riviera, the Italian Riviera, Brussles (works as a day trip by train), Normandy, and Amsterdam. Also, remember that many of the coolest things in Europe are in the countryside.

I'm interested in hearing from others about places to see, both in France and the rest of Europe. There's a lot of places that would be fun to travel to (on the weekends), but the list is pretty big. I'm definitely planning on doing Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, Prague, Munich (Oktoberfest), and probably London/Ireland. What do you guys think about places like Estonia, Athens, Vienna, Lisbon, etc.?

My english is bad but i'll try to talk about my city : Lyon.

Lyon is about 2 hours TGV (train) from Paris and is the second bigest french city.
Lyon is known for 2 things : gastronomy and history. We have some of the best "grands restaurants" and many small typic ones wich we call "bouchons". You can eat there some terrific food for a few bucks, food that you can't eat elsewhere.

Lyon is also registred with the world inheritance of UNESCO, we have a lot of museums, a lot of middle age masonry. On the 8th decemeber we have the "fête des lumières", all the people put candles on the windows, it's just beatiful.

The cinema was born in Lyon, invented by Lumiere brothers, we have a museum of cinema.

Feel free to PM me if you want to know something else. Lyon is definitly a place to visit.

Ps : damn my english sucks a lot :x

3 of my Mother's grandparents were born in Lyon, and she wants to move there when she retires.
