Is there any value in calling in order to checkraise the turn? [/ QUOTE ] A little, but there's also a chance that he caps with something like 88, and we get even more value by calling his three bet and checkraising the turn after. Also, our hand is really hard to read. If he has overs, he is drawing dead but a turn checkraise may knock him off a hand he might call otherwise. To answer your questoin directly, yes, there is an extra sb of value sometimes that we get by waiting till the turn. I'd just raise the flop though here. |

I dunno why he really raised me, I guess because everyone folded. [/ QUOTE ] Because he was seeing if you were just taking a swing at the pot. The raise mostly implies he has trips, the 3-bet really implies that you have trips. He took a shot and believed your 3-bet. |

I'm sorry but I still don't see this advocated 3-bet as a value bet. I still think that we are better off, smooth calling the raise, and donk betting or check/raising the turn.....3-betting basically is telling him one thing.........why play with your cards face up? I think the vast majority of players in the micros wouldn't 3-bet that flop unless they had the goods....

I kinda feel you on this, because I was debating on if I should smooth call it, then check/raise turn. But at the same time, I think often in this situation you'll be up against a flush draw or possibly A,2, 7,7. I think you have to 3-bet for information and so you arn't giving a free card. Also, if he's got 7,X then he might call you down and you would be betting for value.
