I don't remember jack about stats, but I got the right answer.

following your own method:

mean=200, var=14

z1 = (224.5 - 200)/14 = 1.75 ==> .9599
z2 = (225.5 - 200)/14 = 1.82 ==> .9656

.9656 - .9599 = .0057

OH MY GOD, I ACCIDENTLY LOOKED AT 1.81 (.9649) INSTEAD OF 1.82 (.9656) JESUS CHRIST.

I AM BEATING MY HEAD AGAINST MY DESK.

Thank you to everyone who helped and contributed to this post, except for the two bob saget-like attempts at humor by the pirate doofuses

Then why would you open a thread that says "statistics skills needed" and then when you see its a math problem, instead of moving on like a normal person, you feel the urge to release a lame comment when Im already clearly irritated

Also it's clear the real answer here is its 50/50 if there are 225 defects or not. Either it happens or it doesn't.

If you picked one blow drier out of the factory, then it is 50/50. IF you pick one out of 10,000 when there are 225 defective, no, it is not 50/50.
