I do something similar to EL D, I have a word document that I keep open all the time on my computer, it has a heading with each day of the week, and it is basically a crude daily planner, on the 2nd page is where I jot down the the to do stuff/and notes, then when I cradle the axim to get the notes I made on the road, I cut and paste the 2nd pages' notes to the days that I plan on getting them done.

Definitely check out Getting Things Done by David Allen. And Google "Hipster PDA".

The first answer was perfect. Getting Things Done is a great system.

There's a Microsoft program called OneNote. Not sure how expensive it is, but I have it at work. It's essentially a notebook, but with a bunch of options. You can make anything you jot down in it a "list item" and it'll compile all these items across the entire notebook into a single check list. I don't use it nearly as much as I should. Organization is a huge flaw of mine.

I use excel like crazy. It's just what I know and what I'm comfortable with. I have a financial spreadsheet I made, one to track my workouts, one to track menu planning.

I don't really do "to do's" at home, but I use outlook's task function like crazy at work.

Backpack is cool, Ta-Da Lists is made by the same people except it's ONLY to-do lists. It's simplicity is alluring.

P.S. Diablo, do you know the 37signals people!?!?

Oh, and the way I use Ta-Da is that I sit down at the computer before I go to sleep and enter everything I need to or would like to accomplish the next day... I usally wind up entering around 20 items and so far I only average completing like 3 or 4 of them, but that is probably 300-400% more than what I could do otherwise.

When I quit my job, I was worried I would start to miss appointments because it was easy to lose track of the days. I started using Yahoo Calendar to track appointments. You can make it send an email a specified time in advance of any event, and I would leave them unread in my inbox as reminders. I would also print the monthly calendar to keep by my desk, and write in how many hands I played each day. This really freed me up from having to think about these appointments all the time.

I, uh, try to remember everything and have no order at all. I basically never know when I have to do anything, but usually remember just before it has to be done.

Works for me!

the idea that sounds best to me so far is the whiteboard on the wall idea. Something on my wall right next to my desk with a list of things to do would be fantastic imo.
