As played, I think it's a call on the river.

I'm curious though, what do you put villain on when you bet the river?
Seems like JJ-AA is betting the turn, no?

And anyone else care to comment on the merits of betting vs checking the turn?
Seems like 35-40 would be good, as it charges draws which I think is a decent part of his holdings.

Why are we even considering folding river?

I'm reraising this pre-flop.

like 90% of the time ya

why?

I like doing it because we are ahead of his range and OOP. We take away some of his positional advantage by changing the Pot:stack size ratio, and by taking control of the betting lead.

Also, is flop c/r standard for you?

If you c/c, do you normally lead the turn?

Depends, not always though.

FWIW, I feel that I suck in spots like these. Also, I think you made this hand complicated b/c of preflop.

I usually 3bet pf but calling is fine too.

I like the rest, assuming you called on the river obv.

Playing marginal one-pair hands OOP is certainly difficult at times. I believe that reraising this hand is perfectly fine. However, one needs to understand that it loses most if not all if it's showdown value by doing that. There are obv. many lines you can take here. However, I do not think that c/c, c/c is anywhere near optimal on a board like this.

My thinking is that if you are going to call pf, you need to balance between c/c, (lead many turns) and c/r on favorable flops.

One important thing to consider about the turn play here is this. In trying to determine whether to b/f or c/c, you have to weigh the villain's betting range vs. his calling range, and how you want to play the river.

Either line (b/f or c/c) on turn will leave me checking the river most of the time, but the c/c option often allows me to play a smaller pot and can induce river bluffs from worse hands. Even though that leaves us open to giving free cards on the turn, that is sometimes a sacrifice we have to make. The reality is that we likely don't have 3 streets of value here against his range, so we must best determine how to balance extraction and protection at the same time. Truthfully, a very difficult task OOP.

pf i'd rr like 85/15 5-handed. After calling pf, I like c/cing flop, c/cing a lot of paint turns, and leading a lot of other turns, definitely this one. As played, easy call on river.

I did call the river, but what range do you think he shoves the river with? I'd be really surprised if anybody guesses his hand.
