Re: winrates playing live?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] $14-28 is doable indeed. Even higher is possible as well [/ QUOTE ] Can someone point me towards a pokertracker screen shot where the player achieved 42bb/100 over a signifgant sample. Thanks. [/ QUOTE ] $20/hr live would be more like 15-20PTBB/100 so I don't understand what you're asking. |

Re: winrates playing live?
[ QUOTE ]
What would you estimate for $5-10nl? [/ QUOTE ] I haven't played 5-10 no-limit. So, I can't offer an opinion from experience. If $25 is doable at 1-2 and $55 is obtainable at 2-5, then you could extrapolate ~$100/hour at 5-10. But, my gut says it's less because the competition should be noticably tougher (2-5 has many weak players). I'd guess $75-$90/hour if you're the best player at the table. Something which could offset the touger competition at 5-10 is that stacks seem to be much deeper. Plenty of players at 1-2 and 2-5 buy in for the minimum. My observations of 5-10 games is that this is less common there. |

Re: winrates playing live?
55/hr at 2/5 is very obtainable for a good player in the right poker room. 65-75 is also possible providing your name is sbrugby.

standard deviation playing live?
Out of curiousity, would anyone know what a winning player's standard deviation would be in a 2/5 no limit game. I know this could be very different fron person to person, but just bear with me. Lets consider a typical professional in the Las Vegas 2/5 blind game and a $500 buy-in.

Re: standard deviation playing live?
* I don't play at this level
* I don't have enough hand at the live level I do play to get an accurate number either * I'm just guessing, taking a complete shot in the dark I'd say $200/hour. Maybe less for a nit in a really good game, definitely more for a LAGgy player or against tougher competition. |

Thanks Kurt. A guess is a good start and certainly better than no response. That's pretty much around where I was thinking.

Re: standard deviation playing live?
I've played $1/2 and I agree it feels like it should be in double figures given the awfulness of play. I've not played $2/5 but I have played alot of $5/10 and $10/20 uncapped. 10x BB for $5/10 sounds very excessive from my experience of playing although I have no stats to back this up just from what I feel. There are alot more good players at 5/10.
I'm interested in what you say about 2/5 though, that it still has a winrate of 10xBB. If the winrate is 5xBB for 5/10 then that would seem to indicate that 2/5 is a better game to play. Anyone got any more views on 5/10 winrate? |

Re: standard deviation playing live?
i've played a lot of live 5/10 in different places and all i can say is if u can beat this game consistently for an extended period of time for more than 8bb/hr u r a world class player w/out a doubt. i consider myself veeeeeery good playin live and have only been able to beat it for close to 4bb/hr. the 2/5 is a whole other story. that one i play a lot more and have it beat @ 7.5bb/hr. it's about the same $/hr in both for me, but in the 2/5 the variance is smaller, i don't worry as much about my bankroll, and there's always plenty of fish @ every table. the 5/10 sometimes gets tough enough were i have to leave the table (this has actually happened only twice in the las 3 yrs).

Re: winrates playing live?
to answer the op's question,
i don't play 1/2 live that much no more but i seriously doubt it can be beat for $28/hr. perhaps it can be done if u r way ahead of everyone's game in ur local casino and if the rake is low enough. if u r playin 1/2 payin $6 every half hr (like it was last time i saw it @ harrah's in new orleans) then i think it's impossible. they are takin $12 from u every hr, so to make $28/hr u would actually have to beat the game for 20bb/hr. 20bb sustained over a long period of time is a ridiculous #. |

Re: standard deviation playing live?
It can be beat for 10bb/hour especially if you use good table selection. I don't think you need to be world class either. You should be able to beat it for more than 4bb/hr if you're veeeeeery good.
If you've only left the table 2x in the last 3 years then you may not be selecting your tables well enough or perhaps you aren't taking enough advantage of the tight players. I left the table 3x just last week because it was too tight and I put in around 30 hours live/week. Unfortunately the games in my local casino aren't as good anymore so I've been playing more online, however w/ good table selection I really think 7-10bb is attainable. |
