Re: Brag: Finished my Masters
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Beat: a person with a masters in English says "I could care less...". Yikes. [/ QUOTE ]There is nothing wrong with that, and it annoys me that so many people think it's wrong. It's like saying "I don't care very much, but I'm a glass-half-full kind of person". [/ QUOTE ] Then his brag would make no sense. He's so happy that he actually cares quite a bit about how small his bankroll is? I don't think so. I hope you were just mildly leveling me. [/ QUOTE ] Most English people think "couldn't care less" and "could care less" mean the same thing, nit: http://www.bartleby.com/64/C003/078.html |

Re: Brag: Finished my Masters
"Couldn't care less" = I care 0 amount.
"Could care less" = At least I care more than 0 amount. It's said in a sarcastic tone, and implies that you care very little but want to say it in a positive way. If you listen to people when they say these two phrases, you'll notice the first people emphasize the word "couldn't", while the second people emphasis "less". |

Re: Brag: Finished my Masters
Wow. I am glad everyone is so worried about my grammar in a 30 second post I made without any revision.
I say "yo" too when I talk to friends. That's right, a person with a Masters in Education says "yo". Doesn't that just get you going? For those who said congrads, I thank you. Having worked from 8am-9pm almost every day for the past year b/t teaching and class, I am quite realized this is over. I've got a job interview with a good school in the Bronx this week. |

Re: Brag: Finished my Masters
Since when is a masters degree in English a brag? This is such a huge beat I can't even begin to explain. Why not just get a masters in philosophy if you really want to waste your time, and make nothing year in and year out.

Re: Brag: Finished my Masters
It's a Masters degree in English Education.
I would rather make 50k being a high school teacher than 100k sitting 50 hours a week at a desk. |
