I think it's probably because I'm in that spot where I have enough where I don't really want it, but I don't have enough such that I realize the possibilities of having endless amounts.

So I guess I just need to either get poor or get rich. Fast.

And yes, there is a well-established correlation between money and happiness.

[/ QUOTE ]
Then ppl who have lots of money should be able to relax and enjoy all that happiness, and have no need to strive harder to accumulate even more money, yet they never do seem to get around to that.

When I was a kid I had $5. There where 4 different things I was considering buying with the $5, and I thought if only I had $20 I could buy them all. But then I thought, if I did have $20, I'd be able to buy things more expensive than just those four $5 items I was wanting. There were a few different things I would then consider buying that cost $20. And if that were the case, I'd be thinking if I only had $100 I could buy all that stuff. But then I realized, if I did have that $100, I'd also have the option of buying several things even more expensive than those $20 items. And I realized, there is no end to this cycle.
It seems that extremely rich ppl are chasing this same thing, considering all they could do with their $10M and thinking if only they had $100M they could do it all.
I'm confident you can't get rich enough to escape these thoughts.
But then again I'm poor as all to be damned so what do I know.

being wealthy/striving for money, and being materialistic are two completely different things. I want to get money to avoid living paycheck to paycheck. I don't want to have to stress over car troubles b/c I can't afford to replace my engine. I don't however, want watches nice cars or any of that [censored]. I do want to be able to buy a house where my family can live. I want to be able to take vacations. Money is important to all my goals, but I don't consider myself materialistic.

Are you honestly trying to argue that poor people are just as happy or happier than rich people?

Obviously happiness comes from many factors aside from wealth, but that's not really important. More important is the lack of wealth. Not being able to pay your rent is a source of stress, and it taints everything else in your life.
