CTS post on 4betting

CTS

Biceps advice about just avoiding them at 100NL is probably the best though.

"Suicidal" is probably a good description.

Against an unknown player, the vast majority of the time you will be up against AA/KK and playing a small pair like this will get expensive long-term.

yeah, i currently do this...

but the higher stakes you go, the more of these players there are, and the more tables you play, the harder it is to aviod them.

[/ QUOTE ]
Its much easier at the lower levels to just avoid these players. Playing back at these players is a good spot to pick up some small pots as long as you arent scared of good players. 4 betting, stealing their c-bets are both strategies you could use.

c/r shove vs thier cbets in reraised pots. Most of the regs 3bet a good ammount and they do it light, however, thier mistake is that they then go on and cbet in those reraise pots way to often. Make them pay for this.

If you are playing loose and getting 3 bet alot then you have to start doing stuff like this on occasion.

So to me it looks good, to many it probably looks alien.

Some players will 3BET me alot from BTN, CO or from the Blinds. They will do it equally from those spots and do it often. (...)

I fold alot to 3BETs but occasionally i'll play back, but its still costing me money in the long run.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well I am definitely not a pro, so take my words for what they are.

IMO if folding costs you money you fold too much. They do it often, so itīs a steal play basicaly on their side.
They probably think your game is a bit weak-tight.

One part if your problem is that you are out of position often - you say they do it from CO, BTN and the blinds. Being oop here is not very nice.

I play NL10 and I am actualy working on how to challenge the tight abc regulars c-bets. See, ~60% of the time they are missing the flop completely (no pair, no good draw). So are they c-betting a lot more? There must be some fold equity then. And value with so-so hands.(But, at NL10, they never play back when I attack. They standard c-bet, I raise, and from then on itīs fit or fold on their side. This might be different at your level.)

Preflop: Likewise, look at your preflop raising range to get a clue of how often you are ahead. If you raise a hand like JJ, AQo, whatever, have some idea about how many % of all hands are better than yours. If that would be like 15% but they are 3-betting 30%, play back.

That said, if someone is strong and tricky and daring and will embrace high variance for small +EV and has position against you, it might be time to leave. This has been said before.

Also, if they think you will fold too much to their 3-betting, try to find out how they play their monsters preflop. You fold a lot, so they just flat-call QQ+? All right, time for attack when they 3-bet.

Good luck!
