Maybe he set up the Vince McMahon bombing and then had to be assassinated because he was the only link back the McMahon murder masterminds.

Not much info yet, but it feels eerily similar to the Phil Hartman incident.

had he had problems before? I just assumed it was carbon monoxide or something equally [censored].

Benoit then defeated Elijah Burke to be a contender for the vacated Championship and was going to face fellow contender CM Punk at Vengeance. However, Chris Benoit was absent due to a family emergency. His replacement, Johnny Nitro went on to become ECW World Champion. -Wikipedia

Very sad. Don't know if the "family emergency" had something to do with this, although timing wise it seems like it did.

Yeah this was my first thought too as his family was found dead as well. Either way, it is awful.

This is horrible. He was one of the best and had been consistently entertaining for so long. Right when they are doing that stupid angle with McMahon dying too. Christ.

I just think it's especially sad that a year and a half ago they had the Eddie Guerrero tribute, and Benoit was practically falling apart. Watching Benoit talk about Guerrero is one of the most painful and gut wrenching things I have ever seen. And now it's Benoit that has passed away. Like someone else said, I haven't watched Raw in several months, but I'll tune in this one. Benoit was great.
