[ QUOTE ]
I just want to mention that I read all of your trip reports from the WSOP and thought they were highly enjoyable (if more than a little brutal). I hope you get a chance to play as many events next year (if that's what you want!) and continue to write about it. [/ QUOTE ] bond, you enjoyed this right? i just want you all to know that is pretty much the way to make me feel better about a situation, stroke my ego. f the bonus, ftp doug coudl have been like "here 25 bucks go get a calling card and call someone who cares, but hey, i loved your trip reports- you have a great writing style!" |

Re: Resolution to Tilt technical problems costing me several k in equi
Bond, I would not let them off the hook. It depends if you want to invest any more time in this.....but, connectivity it is not always just about the WWW as you may well know. More often, the culprit is within the technical architecture of application service provider, FTP in this case. Their networks, their transaction processing applications, their databases and associated management systems. Not picking on FTP, but gaming sites inter-operate with both ends of the stick...the app on your pc and the apps on their servers. Obv, they can't control anything in between, or failures of your hardware/software. But, it would be wrong of them to simply write it off as a WWW problem.
Root cause analysis for your particular problem would have to be done by the gaming site & that = time and money. They may not know thay have a problem unless they perform this analysis. They may or may not have adequate instrumentation, staff, or knowledge to do this work properly. But, for them to say, "oh well, internet dropped connection....our servers were running just fine....", is unacceptable. They should at least be willing to open up a trouble ticket and at least try to diagnose & report out what they find. This is one of the major problems with online gaming - they do not provide specific service level guarantees to users at a >99.99999% level when a transaction enters their intra-net, when it comes to risking money - users appear assume all the risk. At least, I haven't found anything in writing to say otherwise. |

Re: Resolution to Tilt technical problems costing me several k in equi
Bond, I would ask them to confirm in writing that they have opened up a "problem ticket" or "trouble ticket".
This is a specific type of incident documentation written by the FTP technology shop staff. It should be a very routine first step by them, as it is in most technology organizations. They might have already done this, but, it is worth asking them for confirmation. Once recorded, it usually has a reference number used for problem tracking. Then, they should be following-up with an analysis. Getting them to prioritize appropriately may be the hard part. But, if they are worth their salt, they should record/track it at a very high priority since it cost a customer money. Cheers |
