I totally agree with the suggestions.

Each series should have it's own thread.

c'mon now - clearly you're thinking of only the NBA here, because in the NHL thread, there aren't that many fans of any particular team (except for some reason, Buffalo) - but the long thread gets everyone's thoughts out there about every series.

Yes, it is tough to have a longer discussion in the big threads - but it's the playoffs, the long discussions are for the off-season and trade deadline IMO.

I think people have shown they're generally capable of figuring out what thread of discussion each person is talking about.

The people IN the thread, yes.

But all of the good discussion, and people who don't want to bother with a 2500 post thread are lost.

If enough people can get together to warrant a thread, it should be made.

We have very very few threads in Sporting Events in comparison to just about every other forum. I have no problem with hoping people use common sense.

[/ QUOTE ]I only post on 2 boards: This and FBGs.

Here I can post a thread, come back a week later, and it'll still be on page 1(note: I have my threads/page pretty high). On footballguys I can post a thread and it'll be off the front page in 10 minutes sometimes.

Basically I see no problem with having more threads.

I love the NBA threads how they are. I think starting a new one each round would be ok, but the NBA season thread went really well this year and don't think it should be messed with

I read most of the NBA playoffs thread and occasionally post. If there was a separate thread for each series, I probably would only participate in one, maaaybe two. I think the current format is fine because there aren't multiple games going on at the same time, so there's really no clutter or confusion. I don't understand how one can get lost when all of the relevant discussion is on the last page. Does anyone actually use threaded mode?

The fact that only one game is going on is not important at all.

With separate threads for each series, you could discuss the actual series later. (after the game..series..etc)

Just now, I clicked on the NBA Postseason Thread or whatever. The first post I see on the last page is a long rant from someone talking about Jet Terry of the Mavs. I go back a page to see what he's talking about, and can't immediately find it..so I move forward again. I see a few posts about the Bulls. I see some posts about the Warriors game. Then someone clarifying his point about Jet Terry...etc.

I mean, I don't see how anyone could possibly think this is optimal. Maybe it's super cool for the 10-15 guys who have been in that thread the whole time, but the point of a discussion thread like that is to get the best possible discussion going about each individual topic. This is clearly not being accomplished because not just because it is the thread a huge cluster [censored] of topics, but your also alienating posters who don't want to try and figure out what's going on.
