Wouldn't a time rake speed up the game or at least prevent speedbumps?

Also, if you win like 2 pots per down, aren't you getting raked at least $5 anyways?

You've never played the NL games at Foxwoods then? Time is payed every time a new dealer sits down now, and invariably, it's like getting a clueless person to post a blind in a 2/4LHE game:

DEALER: "Time Please"

NIT 1: "Time? What's time?" - even though he has been playing for the last 23 dealer downs.

NIT 2: "Already? Didn't we just pay time?"

NIT 3: "Are you sure it's been 30 minutes, my watch says 3:27AM, you're 3 minutes early."

DEALER: "Sir (looking at NIT 4), could you take $5 from NIT 5's stack for time?"

NIT 4: (Looking very worried that touching NIT 5's chips is going to give him radiation poisoning) "Uh, I don't touch other people's chips."

Repeat every 30 minutes

yeah where I play rake is done after dealer deals the flop and the players are thinking so it doesn't slow it down more than a couple seconds on some hands. I could see where the timed rake would be a hassle with players that are a little clueless.

The really stupid part is that the nits all know better. They've all played 100s if not 1000s of downs, and know damn well what to do.

Time rake might be OK if the dealers carried there racks, but at Harrah's NO they can F around for 5 minutes if the rack count is off or they're just incompetent. I don't mind waiting in a rake/hand game, but I don't like paying a buck for the house to slow the game down.
