[/ QUOTE ] lol youre funny [/ QUOTE ] I'm not trying to funny, I'm trying to figure out why you're randomly being a jerk-off..you did it in another thread as well. I don't believe I've ever seen your handle before yesterday, much less offended you in any way. |

you didnt offend me, and i didnt mean or want to offend you. but now that i have i think its kinda funny.
if you read davids last post and then read yours its like it takes you a paragraph to say exactly what david said... hence, unoriginal. but no one said you had to have original posts so i suppose i shouldnt have brought it up... lmao |

I would think that every single one of you come in third more often than first or any other place. True or not? In nine handed sit n gos with 50 30 20 splits. I'd guess the typical pro comes in first about 11%, second about 13% and third about 16%. Is that about right? [/ QUOTE ] I'm not a sng pro, but I have a fair amount of experience (and success) in the $215's on party. I had more 1sts than any other position, followed by 3rds, 4ths, 2nds and 10ths. I don't know how you can think the best players would come in first less than average (11% 9-handed). There may be some people who play a million tables and pass up a lot of value by trying to fold their way into 3rd for whom that might be right, but I don't think it's true for people who play optimally. |

i'd definitely expect this to be true now. In the past (say two years ago) there were so many atrociously bad heads-up players in these (making dumb mistakes w/ 8bb or w/e) that i feel like many people wouldve had more 1sts than 3rds.

[/ QUOTE ] do you think this because many bad players have the "play for first" mentality? so when the pros take +$EV opportunities, which can lower 1st place finishes and increase overall ITM finishes, (with likely more 3rd and less 4ths) the bad players have more 1st and more 4ths - 10ths |

Back when I was playing a ton of SNGs (mostly $60s, sample size in the thousands), my most common finishes were: 5-1-4-2-6-3-7-8-9 (Stars @ ~25% ROI).
This was about two years ago though, and I'm sure the dynamic has changed, particularly in the higher buy-ins. I'm almost positive that ROI is close to impossible to achieve in today's environment, unless an expert single-tables. (But why would he?) |

[/ QUOTE ] No. It is like saying that a typical chess pro wins because he knows a lot of theory. Judging by their opening preparation Aronian or Morozevich know relatively little but they are still exremely successful as it can be seen in their Elo rating which is 2744 and 2741 respectively. |
