This would never happen in my card room because the dealers enforce the 'it takes two cards to win rule'.

Its all well and good to just say you should turn them both over. Thats correct.

But the point is that if he turns over one card and you tell him its good then he thinks he has won. Now you wnat to play games.

try this.ext time just turn over your cards (oh thats righht there a big secret and you don't want to show unless you have to) Now the dealer won't push him the pot until he shows both.

If you insist on acknowledging the other player's hand why not say something like "so far, so good", when he shows one card? This should convey the idea that while that he may be ahead there is more info to be had.

There are two ways to interpret this rule. First, Player A shows one card, Player B mucks. Second, Player B shows both cards, Player A shows one card which is enough to beat Player B.

This rule is another one where different casinos interpret it different ways. Or they may simply state if you show at all, it must be both. Most poker players with any experience would say the rule applies to the second example above.

This rule also gets confused with the "show one, show all" rule which has nothing to do with showing cards down at showdown or winning any pots.

Here is the golden rule I follow: when you get to the casino grab a copy (or a plaque on the wall or whatever) of their rules and read them. The go to the floorperson and ask for clarifications (do this when he/she otherwise looks like they are doing nothing).

Edit: Any floorpersons here can tell us how they like/dislike being approached by players outside of the table of play for these sorts of things (hopefully they are one time occurances).

I agree that when OP says "that's good" he is conceding the pot. Something I have seen that bugs me a little more, end of the hand I show both of my cards first, then other guy shows single card that beats my hand and mucks his other card. I have seen people lose the pot when doing this (after having been warned not to).

Room dependent. At CP the dealer will not push the pot if you show only one card, even if the other player sees the card and concedes.

That is how the table generally works. If the player is called they usuall just show one card and wait for the other player to confirm if they are good. Sometimes they wont show you the cards at all and just say what their had is.

I dont know what the problem is with just showing both cards. If someone has called my bet I will just turn my cards over and usually say what my hand is. I am not trying to angle shoot I am trying to make the game run more quickly. This is a timed rake game and waiting for the player to show both cards before you can confirm is going to slow the game down. Its bad enough sometimes getting them to show one card never mind two.

Table your hand and claim the pot. This guy is a first rate assclown that doesn't want to show the 7 with his Jack.

I'm really surprised the dealers aren't instructing him to show both cards. Can't get away with this at Canterbury, even if the other player has already mucked his hand; the winner still has to fully show down.
