look to raise the flop instead, I rly don't like waiting to pop the turn (yes sounds results orientated but this hand shows why I don't like it )

Make that flop Q a J and I like waiting for the turn to raise. As is, rasie the flop.

You have top freakin' pair, second-best freakin' kicker. Raise the flop. At least then if Villain 3-pops it, it only costs you an extra SB instead of an extra BB.

This is why I would raise flop. It will cost me a lot less now then in later streets if I am behind. If he is truly ahead he may call you and raise the turn. Then you have a decision on your hands and a likely c/c unimproved.

If he 3 bets the flop you will probably go into c/c mode unimproved until the showdown.

Second orbit, so relative unknowns. Most hands have been 4+ handed so far but I don't think I've seen villain show anything down yet.

PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

Fold the river. You are good here almost never. Villian truly doesn't care that you raised the turn when you have clearly told him that you have an ace in your hand. Villian holds AA, QQ, AQ, AK every time. If he showed you KK or JJ, take a note. He has AA once, QQ 3 times, AQ 6 times, and AK 8 times. 18 combos. 18 times you call, you lose 18 BB. I don't think he plays KK like this nearly enough so you have to discount that.

In total he has to play 4 other hands like this, hands that are losers, in order for you to call the river because you need to pick up more than 18 bets when you win for the times that you are behind to AA, QQ, AQ, and AK.

If you add in that he may play 66 like this, then it's even more convincing.

I think you can fold, and I don't think it's close.

TWIWP, raise the flop. Why did you slow-play? I guess the turn raise is good for a cheap showdown, but once 3-bet you're most likely drawing dead to AQs, QQ, (and maybe behind AK and AA). The 3-bet says you're most likely behind, but I call it down in this large pot, and expect to lose.
