Honestly, I have never played in a rebuy tourney. Here, we are only allowed 1 rebuy. When does it make sense to take it? Should I just take it right away and start off with 4500 chips, or should I wait to see where I'm at by the first break and take it then?

[/ QUOTE ]

Take it at the start. Tourney is $80 buy in for $1500 tournament chips. Rebuy is $50 for $3000 tournament chips. Easy decision.

With all due respect to Stern, I disagree under the circumstance. You are new to the tourney and don't know how any of the players play. I'd rather get a feel for the action and other players tendencies. You might not want to wait until the break but you'll have a better comfort level 30 to 40 minutes in. Even if you're up substantially, get the re-buy at the break. How about a poll on this?

Then don't get involved in big pots or play extra tight. The idea of saving chips for later at the expense of possibly using them to double up is dumb.

The extra 3000 is worth more to you when the blinds are 25 and 50 than after the blinds have gone up to 100-200 with a 25 ante.

Wait to rebuy : AA vs KK first hand 1500 x 2 wins 3000
Rebuy right away: AA vs KK first hand 4500 x 2 wins 9000

If your playin tourneys, be confident in your game and take the chips as soon as possible to maximize potential winnings.

Any word on how the cash game business is doing there, especially in the evenings.

I remember they used to have as many as 20-25 games on a weekend.?

I won a noon tourney on my last trip there. Best LL tourney in vegas. Nice long levels. Be prepared for it to take 6-8 hours. If I remember, there is a 10-tabble cap, and they get a few alternates. Don't be an alternate!

I was told by a floorperson that tonight's evening tournament got the biggest turnout ever for a Caesars evening tourney.
