The first isn't a slide, it looks like you're just meant to climb up by putting your hands and feet through the little holes in the bottom/top.

it's absolutely great for that, but almost every kid under a certain age is going to assume it's a slide, since it is slide colored and shaped.

My godson kept on calling it scary, then I showed him how to climb up the inside and he was ok with that.

He still didn't want to get anywhere near it going from top to bottom.

oh, the first vertical slide has hand/footholes on the sides, so you can climb up it.

The second one appears to be for climbing up, but you'd have to seriously cling to this thing to avoid sliding down. it doesn't look steep, but it is.

The second one is zigzagged and has drops in between each zag, and *could* be usable and fun if it wasn't so skinny that my 3-year-old godson (who is small for his age) couldn't slide down it comfortably.

[/ QUOTE ]I think that's why they put the six inch razor blades on the slide. The blood is supposed to act as a lubricant and speed things along.

yes. but many kids would be on the playground and assume it's a slide, and plummet to their demise.

I don't think you're giving these kids enough credit.
