Situation 1 I'd either check call or check raise depending on who bets and how many people are in the hand. If enough people are in the hand go for the check raise as a pot equity raise. If its shorthanded or you expect it to be short just check call your getting the odds to continue so do it. I'd probably lean towards check calling though since 4 of your outs could give you the 2nd nuts.

Situation 2- is pretty much the same except i'd be more inclined for the check raise if you have an equity edge because you have 8 outs ot the nuts.

**EDIT** This is assuming you are pretty sure someone will bet, after reading some of the other posts I agree that table texture is very important and leading out here could be a good decision depending on the players at your table.

This basic situation happens to me a lot:

I'm in the small or big blind with a marginal holding. Nobody raised and I either complete or check. I then proceed to flop a "can't win unless you hit" draw against 4+ opponents in a smallish pot and am first or second to act. How do I proceed, and what should I be thinking about?

Hold'em On The Come as recommended in your other thread would help with this I think.

I would check the flop on both hands. Of course, call on hand two.

I almost always check the first flop. I don't think you can generally blast through that kind of field and I don't think you have enough hand to be getting value from the bet. That's the kind of draw I'm trying to get to as cheaply as possible.

I'm torn on the second one. I see how you would want money to go in but I still don't like betting out, especially when you don't have an overcard. The main argument for betting out, as far as I can see, is that when you have 30% equity you don't want it to check around. Thing is, in the 6/12 games I play in that flop almost never checks around. Is that a dumb attitude?

So for the second hand I'm check calling and then betting out when I get there. Does anyone think that sucks?

These two hands have just about the same chances of winning if we hit and they have just about the same chances of hitting.

The first hand we have to worry about J8 if the ten hits but really, we win if we hit so I'm leading out here every time.
