I only have one song left to beat on Expert and now they're going to wreck my social life all over again... I hate you Jordan...

Activision officially announced Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s today, though it's been known about for quite some time. As the title implies, this one will feature popular songs from the 1980s.

The game will be compatible with the standard SG Guitar Hero controllers, so those who have held onto them are in luck. It will feature a number of different venues and characters, as usual, though this time they will be '80s-themed.

Activision saw fit to announce 7 of the 30 songs that will be appearing in the game:

* I Wanna Rock (by Twisted Sister)
* I Ran (by Flock of Seagulls)
* Round and Round (as made famous by Ratt)
* I Want Candy (as made famous by Bow Wow Wow)
* Metal Health (as made famous by Quiet Riot)
* Holy Diver (as made famous by Dio)
* Heat Of The Moment (as made famous by Asia)

"The 80s features an amazing variety of rock genres from hair metal to punk to new wave, and our dedicated Guitar Hero fans will definitely appreciate the opportunity to play all the new and exciting content we've added," said Dusty Welch, head of publishing at RedOctane. "As we delve deeper into the history of rock, we'll continue to offer a fresh experience and even more explosive tracks with the Guitar Hero franchise."

It's worth noting that the press release says 80's Edition was developed by Harmonix, so it seems GH development duties hadn't yet been passed to Neversoft when work on this began.

Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s will be out for the PS2 this summer.
