Default Re: Bet your rags, check your \"premiums\"

If you ever check your BB against a SB open complete, it should be with the intention of betting any flop when checked to. There's too much to be gained from this, since you'll take down the pot something like 80% or more of the time.

Default regarding the differences in these \"flop textures\"

on a t97 flop, any hand with a

6
7
8
9
T
J

will call.

on aa8 there are plenty of hands with these cards that dont call.

[ QUOTE ]

In the second hand, the flop is a bit more co-ordinated and looks as though it could have connected with a random hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is also a reason not to bet the second hand...

ben, because villian probably is at like level 1 and will
a. be scared of flop 1 cos it has aces
b. more likely to have something like a 7, 8, 9 or 10 when he limps the SB (aka hand 2). I also expect this sort of guy to peel with a gutshot if he has Jx

[/ QUOTE ]

I find that fish are much more likely to fold to c-bets if there is an ace on the board. It seems to be the only card they are really scared of (if they don't have one of course).
