Clearly Tony did nothing wrong here in terms of the search. Google happens, nothing you can do about that and there's nothing wrong about it.

That said, he's gone from a useful poster to a guy who seems to only pop up to talk about how he hates somebody on the internet. Just for his sake I wish he had some perspective.

Everyone is focusing on Tony and his post. Am I the only one that has noticed that the whole forum has been out to get Eliane for some time? I don't care if she is saying or doing dumb stuff. We are acting like a pack of dogs. If it were a man saying equally absurd things we would point out his errors in an effort to make ourselves look smart. Then we would just move on to the next post with that glow of superiority spurring us on.

With Eliane we smell blood and it becomes a contest to see who can humiliate her the best and it seems we won’t stop till we drive her out or someone crosses a line we all know is off limits. Tony won this one. But it was the pack mentality that got it to this point. Eliane has openly shared her identity here and elsewhere she is smart and can defend herself she will not be driven out it is just her nature and this is good. But why are we not smart enough to control ourselves when dealing with her?

Many, many other posters that are not married to Ed say much dumber stuff on this forum and they get put in their place. Eliane gets put in a different place however.

I actually think the opposite. If the poster in question was some random guy, and not a woman married to Ed Miller (who is, by all accounts, a very smart and likeable guy), then I'm sure tons of posters would have chipped in w/ some smartass degrading comments. I know I definitely would have.

Stuey, you are wrong. The only way that Elaine is treated differently is that she hasn't been banned for being a troll.

I was actually going to post this early. I can honestly say that the only reason I haven't banned/exiled elaine from OOT is because she is ed's wife. obviously my standards are different from the rest of the mods but IMO she adds virtually nothing to the forum, is a troll, and seems to have absolutely no clue as far as what OOT is and is not in terms of a forum.

Also, as an impartial observer who knows nothing about Elaine's posting history, it seemed like everyone was just ignoring her dumb comments in the Diablo thread and treating her with kid gloves. It wasn't until that she kept at it and kept basically calling Diablo out that things got a bit more heated towards her.
