2 strokes over 4 rounds and hes in a playoff in the masters (obv win) and the US open champ, so maybe it is the putting not ballstriking. [/ QUOTE ] IIRC his driving accuracy during that stretch was insane with the length he was hitting it. Put Tiger in the fairway ~75% of the time in a major and it's almost a done deal. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] and wins the 2001 Masters to complete the Tiger Slam... [/ QUOTE ] Tiger Slam is BS. Stupid media hype. [/ QUOTE ] 4 majors in a row is bs? It's funny how brainwashed people can get when someone in their own time is so great. [/ QUOTE ]It's not the 4-in-a-row that is BS, but the "Tiger Slam". Totally fabricated by the media just so they could hang something on Tiger. There's the Grand Slam - Masters, US Open - The Open - USPGA Champs in that order, and you get a Slam, the Tiger slam is not a grand slam. |

They just made up a name for it, big deal. Fabricated to hang something on Tiger? LOL Yeah they were really reaching to find someway to make him look good after winning 4 majors in a row. How dare they make up a nickname for it! |

Re: Something I wonder about
Tiger has said on more than one occasion that he wants to own his swing. His swing is much better than it was during even his best run. His body language during the third round of the US open this year shows that he is as comfortable with his swing now as he was with his putting in the 2000 open.
IMO the only thing Tiger needs to work on is getting the same frame of mind when he is 2 behind, that he has when he's 2 in front. |

In no way is it anything but a "Career Slam" though, no matter how it's spun. Making up a special category for someone because they didn't quite make it to the goal is weak. If a HORSE wins the Preakness, the Belmont and the Breeders Cup, it's not the "Cool Horsey Triple" |

[/ QUOTE ] Why do people care that some have decided to call this the "Tiger Slam"? Your horse racing example sucks and it should be obvious to you why... And also, nobody in the history of this game has ever held all four of those major tournament trophies at one time. Others have completed the career grand slam, but none have won them in a row like Tiger did. (Yes I'm talking about the modern majors) Jack never had all 4 at once, Palmer never did...nobody has, and usually when someone does something that nobody else has done before, it's a good time to give that accomplishment a title/name, amirite? |
