Re: AQ UI Value Bet

There are no better hands that fold. [/ QUOTE ] emerson, I'm not sure you grasp the concept of 'value bet.' It's a bet that wants to be called. It's not a bet designed to get a better hand to fold. |

[ QUOTE ] Actually I'm wondering that more and more in general. I think sometimes, I blindly decide I have the best hand and forget to ask myself what worse hands will call. [/ QUOTE ] betting the river is at least close. ppl call worse A-hi here all the time and that's a big part of his range. [/ QUOTE ] So AJo or worse is a "big part of the range" of a TAG who calls that flop and turn against a PF 3-bettor? |

Re: AQ UI Value Bet
I prefer betting the turn and checking behind on the river in this situation. Its not as if we're worried about a c/r bluff on the turn. So I just go ahead and bet the turn and fold if c/red.

Re: AQ UI Value Bet
Yes, I like my line as well. When he calls the flop, I figure his range is Kx, pp, or Ax. When he checks to me on the turn, there is nothing better that folds, and all Ax will be folding, so I check. When he checks the river, I thought to myself "no way he can possibly check a pair here, so I have the nuts".
imo the only marginal decision is whether he calls with Ax on the river. I don't know the answer to this because I have only stats on him but he hasn't done anything to get my attention. Anyway, in these situations, I usually just go ahead and bet; he can figure out for his own damn self if he wants to call with Ax. Lastly, I almost timed out before calling, but I still figured there was no way he would check a pair on that river. |

This hands feels backwards... i think you need to bet turn and check river. [/ QUOTE ] Turn value check is standard here. |

Re: AQ UI Value Bet
this is a spot I struggle with alot, but I think you played it fine. I would bet the turn and feel like a cr makes this an easy fold. He wont be expecting you to bet the turn with a hand you are not showing down. His line on the river is weird for someone w/ his numbers. Its a line that someone with my numbers might take with an 8 or small pp against an aggro opponent. This opponent probably weird-played a K. I would end up making an info pay off.

Re: AQ UI Value Bet
I would have value bet the turn and river. Once he c/r river you have to call because he knows you have A high and people don't generally bet/call with A high so he probably expects a fold. This is generally one of the problems of turning your hand face up. Betting turn we can safely fold to a c/r while giving us the possibility of winning 2 bets from him in what seems like a likely situation of being ahead. Checking turn makes 0-1 bets go in while ahead and apparently 2 in when behind or maybe getting bluffed.
