check call river is by far the best

Bet folding is definitely the worst.

Folding pairs PF is for nits.

turn got capped and you bet the river and now you fold for only 1 bet into a hugh pot, this is a big leak

fold PF, bet/3bet the turn, c/c the river.

At least you got the flop right.

Don't you think if you lead the turn you might as well just 3 bet the flop? Or am I being too aggressive again? My standard FR line here is to just bet/3bet flop and turn.

yeah.

i felt like my line was okay at the time but i think that this player can really only be overplaying Q9 or AQ and then catch me on the river and if my read is right i should just check/call (duh ).

so i suck.

but, to be fair, i don't think it's that big of a leak to fold when villain pretty much can't be bluffing anymore even when the pot is big. this hand might be different but i don't think most of the 'dont fold for one more bet in a big pot' mantra assumed a complete shoot-out on the big bet streets before the board got exceedingly ugly.

thanks all,
bbbushu

If you called the river, there is a small chance this guy would show something down like 6 high. I'm not joking.

And since you don't understand when it's good to fold a set HU, just don't ever do it.

If you made it to the river with a set, in a 12BB pot, HU, just check call.

I don't care if there are 400 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on the board, don't fold.

If you check, he will probably VB his two pair, or his Top pair.

Trust me, you aren't losing any value by not folding your hand on the river. That said, I would not want 2BB going in on this river after the turn action.

thehip,

when is it good to fold a set HU? this is kinda what i asked you and since you so keenly pointed out that i don't know the answer, would you give me some ideas about when it would ever be feasible? i'm sure you're a better hand-reader than me so i'm asking you when YOU would fold a set in a big pot.

i am *not* under the impression the hand was played correctly (i generally don't post hands i think i played well, fwiw) and i posted it bc i thought it went down really weird and would generate some discussion. i know you're "edgy" or whatever and that's great but i really am just curious about your general thoughts, here.

thanks,
bbbushu

The time to fold sets is on a very scary board on the river when its 2 bets to you.

if it's HU, never. Just dont' do it. You won't be losing very much if you just check call.
