There's a whole chapter on this in Blink. It's focused on Warren Harding, who was a bad politician but whom everyone looked at and insta-knew he would be president.

With women, they do. No info on 5'9" because the study goes in 2 inch increments. If you are 5'8", you need to make $138,000 more than men 5'11.5" in order to compete equally with women. If you are 5'10", you only need to make $24,000 more. Men who are taller then 6'4" can score a one out of ten on the looks scale and work at McDonald’s and be as successful with women as men who score a ten on the looks scale. Also, if you are a ten on the looks scale and make $62,000 a year, a person who is a one on the looks scale, would have to make $250,000 to be as successful with women as you ( during online dating ).
