college is fun. Poker is not. Poker will always be there. College is not as fun when you're 25 and everyone else is 18-22

[/ QUOTE ]

you dont have to be in college tho to have just as much fun as any other college kid, you just have to some social skills and some friends

[/ QUOTE ]

100% agree. College, as in actual college and not the stuff that comes with it, is not fun. You can get the other stuff easily without going to college.

I find poker fun and I suspect anyone that would be able to do it as a living and be very successful would too.

So to say college is fun and poker is not is pretty backwards imo.

why is it rarely mentioned that you can do both?

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah, seriously. I never went to college or anyting like that but how much of your time does it honestly take up?

[/ QUOTE ]

it doesn't have to take up much if you don't want it to, but you probably won't get that much out of it if you don't put in the time. Going to school while playing poker is not advisable. You will probably do mediocre in both, or bad in one and ok in another, in my personal experience. I agree with Brian on this one.

I dropped out of college at 19 and went back at 24, it wasn't that bad but I look young so people don't ask me to buy them beer or anything.

I'd say go the college route, that way you can study game theory and learn how to make aggressive calls.

Do many people play more than 4 hours of poker a day anyway? Doing both should be achievable I think. The only difficulty would be at the end of the year around exam time from my perspective. I would have to stop playing for 3 weeks so I can out one hundred percent into the exams but other than that it should be possible to do both I believe.

it's possible to do both, but college is distracting. I dropped recently and do much better in poker now, as well as get in more hours in.

dropout = profit.

There are so many people in college who either don't want to be there or shouldn't be there. It makes sense for those people to focus on other money-making ventures than sinking their money into a college degree.
