There is also a 2-7 lowball variation where your middle hand is composed of a low. But to answer your question, yes it is like PaiGow.

There are probably many variations...one me and my friend's use is a 3-handed version where you get 17 cards: the old 'middle' hand is a 2-7 hand and the 4 extra cards are a Badugi hand. Here only your 5-card high hand has to beat your 3-card hand (just like your '2-7 in the middle' version).

It's the same as regular Chinese Poker. One point per hand, and a point for winning. So if I win three out of four hands, I win two points net, plus a point for winning. Three points to me.
Greg invented this game (with an assist). He also added a twist. Since there are four hands there will be lots of ties. So after dealing out the hands you turn over a card in the stub (or last card if three handed), and whoever has the highest card of that suit in their 2-7 hand, wins a point.

So is there any actual betting with these points? Or is just like a casino table game?

[/ QUOTE ]

No betting. Points = $$$.

If you (and your opponents) know how to set hands correctly, it's a flipping coins game.

If you don't know how to set hands correctly, then you are giving up equity to the players that do.

the key is 95% of all players dont play optimally, they just think their intuition is correct. There is a lot of memorization to master Chinese Poker, its something few people are willing to do (or even know about)

Is tournament chinese poker more interesting than normal chinese poker? Are there any situations where, like in tourney BJ, you have to deviate from BS?

I'd like to ask a question even though I suppose this is the wrong forum.

I am interested about how big an edge a pro can have on you in Chinese Poker.

Let's say you're playing the 'best' player in the world and you 'out-boat' him 6-4 and 'out-bonus' him 6-4...over 1000 hands can he beat you using optimal strategy?

Thanks

Do you have a good link to an optimum strategy guide?
