Ive never been into sci-fi, but watched firefly because a friend recommended it.

[/ QUOTE ] yeah, but to be fair, I think the movie was the best it could have been all things considered. There wasnt the budget to do some blockbuster amazing movie, and they had to keep it true to the show to keep the true fans happy, yet still have it not be completely "huh, wtf is going on?" for someone who hadn't watched the show.

I saw the movie, it was meh.
I never expected to like the tv show. ... I love the tv show. The movie is now awesome.

Without him, the movie's amazing, but he very much hurts my enjoyment of it.
