Re: why are people still playing aba
This reminds me of a thread from a while back about the Big Game. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...rue#Post6055288
In which El Diablo makes one of the best yet most obvious answers I've ever seen: [ QUOTE ] r, "I'm just curious as to why the "losers" wouldn't just leave and play at a table they can consistently beat." Why not just title the question, how does the game of poker played for money exist? [/ QUOTE ] |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Aba is his name on PokerStars. sbrugby is his name on FullTilt. I thought this type of knowledge was a prerequisite to joining 2+2?? [/ QUOTE ] he's heads-up-pokah (sp) on ft [/ QUOTE ](he's both!) Also people play him for the same reason anybody plays anybody either to gamble, or they think they can beat him (certain people have an edge on aba hu, not sure who, but someone does). [/ QUOTE ] god doesnt play poker |

Re: why are people still playing aba
Does anyone have reliable stats on Aba's career stats against Antonius and Phil Ivey?
If he's up on those guys he can reasonably claim the title of "best nl hold em player on earth," which he has already claimed IIRC. |

[/ QUOTE ] No, but feel free to state your opinion-not a mind reader. My take is that I think online poker is a purer meritocracy than "real world" poker, where the top guys' bankrolls are padded by huge endorsement deals. Plus, a lot of the top guys made huge scores in tournaments like the WSOP where, as Jamie Gold showed, luck plays a huge role. So I trust Aba's path to the top more than I do some of the big names. Yet I still put a lot of credence on the views of the pros as far as who the best players are- and many of them think Antonius and Ivey are the best, or so I've read. If that's the case, and Aba was up on those two, then I think he could reasonably consider himself the best. But you're never going to get this issue proven objectively- it's all opinion. |

Re: why are people still playing aba
he needs to be up over a huge amount of hands.
nit just up over 30k hands or something. also, IMO it needs to be HU, not 3 or 6 handed. I agree w/ you though; aba is prolly the best NLHE player in the world atm. |
