When I was on BJ21.com (stanford Wong's +EV blackjack site...kind of the 2+2 for BJ card-counters) they had a $50 or $100 award or something for the 'best post' of the month...and all of the best posts were in a special archived section.

Stanford himself would select the winner. He would mention the 2 or 3 he was considering and ask the forum if there were any other nominations.

I thought it was a good idea...and going back and reading all the past winning posts was pretty interesting. Some really good stuff in there naturally.

Just tossing out my experience over there.

But here on 2+2 you can just get $200 for a magazine article so I don't think the system that was uzed over at BJ21 would translate very well to 2+2.

Plus...I think the weekly 'digests' that many of the strategy forums are using partly serve that purpose.

although, I wouldn't be opposed to a yearly 'digest' as well with the best of the best....something like the best 30 posts or threads that we had on 2+2 through the year.

I know we have a running thread somewhere by illunious I think that is 'best all-time posts on 2+2' or something like that.
but I think we can do more.

It's really hard to surf around in all the forums and find every spectacular post/thread.
I want someone to do it for me!!!

I agree with your 2+2 magazine statement.

I also think that running something like this wouldn't hurt the forum. It may motivate some of the members into posting more quality stuff. However, I think it's almost unfair to ask Mr. Malmuth and co. to flip the bill for something like this. Getting better should serve as enough motivation for people to post quality stuff. The magazine is there for those who go above and beyond and they are rewarded for it. I think www.twoplustwo.com already does more than any other website to promote learning poker at a higher level. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me why Mr. Malmuth and co. should reach even a touch deeper into their pockets to do even more for us and the other members.

Mason did agree to one giveaway. We have some Maroon Shirts. If people want to make these the prize in certain instances, we can start with that. Just post the intent in this forum before announcing the prize.

How many maroon shirts? I would personally like to see one shirt given to as many strategy forums as possible (or as many want them) to be given away to a member of that forum for something related to good posting.

I could see OOT related merchandise being a big cash cow for 2+2.

Oh, well, sweet. I'd like to talk it up with Greg and Racious for a bit first, but I've got an idea about a give away I'd like to do in Micro. Perhaps we can consider this a trial run for future give aways.

Here's the idea I have for MTT. We have a daily digest, Anthology, and FAQ. Everytime somebody makes a post that is included in the daily digest or Anthology they get a point. Everytime somebody recommends an old post to be included in the Anthology they get a point. And if somebody writes up an FAQ that's included they get a point. At the end of the quarter, we'll do a drawing and give away a t-shirt. Four quarters. Four t-shirts. Jurollo is on board with this as well so if there are no objections I'll go forward with announcing it.

Lloyd, I really like your idea. I think I'll probably implement a similar system in Micro and SSSH where we award one point to a poster every time his or her name is mentioned in the weekly digest, which would be whenever they make the post that gets digested, make a reply that gets mentioned, or submit a link to the guy who makes the digest. I also ran a contest of a different sort in Micro.

BTW, who should we have the winners contact to claim their prize?
