Re: 99 - paired flop
calling down unknowns with a less than 'good' hand (ie not TP) ... will generally not be too hot
you've given no indication that you have any thought going on after the flop check raise ... only that you have to win 33% of the time (and it's actually 50%) i probably call the flop and the turn against a semi aggressive player ... but would likely fold the river you have no read so really ... you could even just fold the flop (but in reality, call the flop fold the turn) |

Re: 99 - paired flop
[ QUOTE ]
Why did you call down? [/ QUOTE ] I have thought that pot is big enought to call down why i wanna call down: - I was really agro in last few orbits - villian has short stack so he can dont care about loose some more chips - board is paired and only one big card is at flop so only 5 cards fit to pair flop - 99 is to strong to fold and to weak to raise |

[ QUOTE ] Why did you call down? [/ QUOTE ] I have thought that pot is big enought to call down why i wanna call down: - I was really agro in last few orbits [/ QUOTE ] Do your opponents notice and do they care? Do you believe that this makes them more inclined to try to bluff at you? [ QUOTE ] - villian has short stack so he can dont care about loose some more chips [/ QUOTE ] How short is short? Is he going all-in on this hand? Players usually don't do that with junk (unless they're all-in preflop). But they could do this with a weakish made hand or a draw. [ QUOTE ] - board is paired and only one big card is at flop so only 5 cards fit to pair flop [/ QUOTE ] While true, do you think your opponent would make this play without one of those 5 cards? [ QUOTE ] - 99 is to strong to fold and to weak to raise [/ QUOTE ] This is a statement relative to the situation. Do your pocket 9s stand up well against the flop check-raising hand range of this villain? Oh yeah... you don't have reads... do you see why this is so important? |

Re: 99 - paired flop
This is a typical simple but hard problem. There is not much use in raising so we only need to put our opp on a range and decicide if it is worth showing down according to pot-odds. The second part is easy, but the first is very hard. I think u atually need to play some poker every now and then to answer it accurately.

Re: 99 - paired flop
I didnt thought this hand will be so problematic
I was also afraid that when I didnt call this flop raise i will be easy target even for more passive player and they will more try semi bluff with raise at many flops. and SSHE says that dont afraid of some 'loose call' when decision is close. |

[/ QUOTE ] You aren't being bluffed anywhere near as often as you think you are. This is at worst a flush draw, but most likely a x2 hand. |

Re: 99 - paired flop
Without a read I think I could let this go on the turn because the pot isn't very big, with a read I could see a call down give the board is two-flush.
As a rule of tumb you are behind on the flop tho. |
