[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] and yeah, no option but to auto shove once he bets. [/ QUOTE ] why do you say that? he probably doesnt have that many outs against us if we're ahead, and he's not going to fold a better hand - that's for sure - so i'd rather get it in by calling here than by pushing. i think he'll double barrel us fairly frequently with our weak turn line. wouldn't you? [/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure the need to protect our hand isn't greater than the opportunity to stop bluffs, almost all bluffs have outs against us, and we don't really know whats his outs. I guess calling could be good since alot of players would try to bluff again if another heart came down and such. idk. what if we don't have the Jh, whats our turn play ? [/ QUOTE ] Why do we want to stop bluffs? Also, I think without the Jh we pretty much do the same we would do otherwise, we just feel really disgusted when he instacalls (instead of just disgusted). I'd c/r ai here most of the time. Plz keep posting P2K! |

Re: 20/40 NL HU check or bet
CRAI, is the best but he has to be betting the turn a good % of the time.

Re: 20/40 NL HU check or bet
Welcome to the forums Michael! (this is Isaac)
I'd bet the turn usually but crai is fine too, the decision has everything to do with metagame, in a vacuum neither choice is clearly better. Given your check and his bet you have to shove here. Your equity on the turn is very good but I don't see play on the river going well for you. |

Re: 20/40 NL HU check or bet
i feel kinda dirty saying this but I think I reall like a c/fold here. it doesn't sound like you have the post flop history to make a c/r ai on turn line profitable in this situation

Re: 20/40 NL HU check or bet
I like the check/raise push. Especially against an aggresive player like that.
Check/call I think is by far the worst option. If anything I'd get a lil tricky and maybe throw out a fake weak lead. Check/Call could be giving him a chance at a free draw. Essentially with that bet you have to decide on the turn if your good. If he's bluffing he's almost 100% not going to fire another bullet at you on the river so no point in just calling. |

Re: 20/40 NL HU check or bet
ty Isaac. the preflop aggression was probably the sickest i've played vs anyone, about 50% of the times he decided to play a pot he reraised. after a while i came back on him with bluffs. I can't say that the postflop play looked very healthy either. Altough I think bet/call is better. In his brain he might try to represent the flush and move in with pair and gutshot or something like that.

Re: 20/40 NL HU check or bet
Against 95% of players as long as you don't fold, it doesn't really matter toooo much. I prefer CRAI.

Re: 20/40 NL HU check or bet
imo, only thing that really matters is how he views you/how often you have been reraising him. If he views you as aggressive at all, you really have no option to shove, but there are definitely some guys I would c/f the turn against.
from the way you described the history, and given the stack size, i like a check on the turn (as opposed to betting), with the intention of raising all in. I think most of the time the opponent you described flops a flush draw or slowplayed aces in this spot, he's going to jam the flop. |
