Re: How to play 22/17

It sounds like you need to understand position more. Raising really low pocket pairs in early position seems too loose for your stats. [/ QUOTE ] Huh? I think most people here open raise any pair from any position in 6max. |

Re: How to play 22/17
Sound bytes make for terrible strategy. Just because one guy said a sLAG style is easier, doesn't mean it's right.
In fact, it's flat out wrong: poker is much easier when you're tight and aren't playing more marginal situations and cards. A good way to open up isn't to "play worse hands," -- though you often will -- but instead you should aim to FIND MORE SITUATIONS WHERE RAISING IS PROFITABLE. The most common ways to open up: steal more against tight blinds. If HUD says they fold 100%, pump your stealing up to 45-60% though not always ... you don't want them to get frustrated and play correctly by calling and 3-betting you more! Another situation is isolating a weak limper, in particular someone who is predictable and often folds to continuation bets. When they come in and you're in LP with a hand that's not easily dominated and preferably suited, like many medium one-gappers or Q8s, raise it up to 5BBs and plan to take it down right there or on the flop. |
