Re: OT: So I\'m getting married....
[ QUOTE ]
p.s. where are you getting married? [/ QUOTE ] A small town called Atlanta, IL. South of Bloomington/Normal on Interstate 55 if you are familiar with the area. [ QUOTE ] How does your soon to be wife handle poker? [/ QUOTE ] She doesn't play. She says I play enough for the both of us. Actually, she has a job in shipping sales and the variance at her job in one week is quite akin to the variance in a week's worth of poker. But she is knowledgable enough to understand EV and that I am good enough to win, so she is cool with it. Just so long as I manage my time with her. One of the reasons I had to quit running the 4/180 challenge on Tuesdays, but that was an easy sacrifice. [ QUOTE ] Variance: Little Sherman's inevitable? [/ QUOTE ] That's a bit too far in the future. Probably not until post-Ph.D. |

Re: OT: So I\'m getting married....
So your fiance has a job in shipping it but she doesn't play poker? Sounds kinda sketchy to me.
Congratulations dude. |

Re: OT: So I\'m getting married....
We just celebrated our 5th anniversary by having a baby girl.
There's nothing better - anybody who says otherwise is either in a bad relationship, hasn't found the right person, or has to grow up a bit... 'grats, Sherman... Enjoy... OT |

Re: OT: So I\'m getting married....
habitual lurker/i never play anymore, but i have always enjoyed your posts and have generally thought of you as one of the more level headed posters in general. Congrats. I'm 24 too and, personally, the thought of getting married is the type of thing that makes me wake up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night. I have yet to meet a woman who can deal with me on a day to day basis, so it's never come up. All the best in the future. Poker is fun, but real life is infinitely more interesting.

Re: OT: So I\'m getting married....
Congrats, Sherman! I'm about to propose in the near future, and if my gf agrees (pretty sure she will ), we're getting married next year. Having a wife that accepts the time we spend playing poker is of course a brag. Whenever I sit down to play, I'm getting class A service. She always cooks and serves me dinner, bringing coffee and water when I ask for it, and sometimes I get freshly baked bread or cinnamon buns. If only she could pee for me too...
How do you split the week between poker and your future wife? I'm usually dedicating three evenings to poker and four evenings to my gf. Wonder if it's possible to do that after children comes into the picture? |
