Mod Edit: Author wishes to rescind his comments here in light of my post below.

I contacted Neteller tech support and had a heart to heart with them over a lot of these concerns. The Neteller position is that its business as usual save for the loss of the insta-cash option.

Unfortunately, the moral minority in the US will continue to pass abrasive and unconstitutional laws until a landmark case sets a pro-poker legal precedent. Since none of us in the micros are funding such a legal effort anytime soon, I would like to suggest that you sign up with the Poker Player's Alliance:

http://www.pokerplayersalliance.org/

They are fast growing grassroots effort to protect poker player's freedoms and carry endorsements from the big pros. For $20 you can become a card-carrying member. Perhaps this would be a good opportunity to try your new cash-out method du-jour?

The more people support groups like the PPA and take an active role in getting the word out, the better our chanes are of quickly resolving these attacks on our game.

If this message has inspired you to sign up, tell them Bionic sent you...and post that you did so in this thread! Let's show some solidarity, micros. Everyone's crime is no crime.

What a week to come back to playing. Sheesh

It is the official position of 2+2 publishing that the PPA is a shady organization that is not sufficiently open about its practices to be trusted with our money to do good things for poker players. There are efforts currently in the Legislation forum fronted by BluffThis to form a Political Action Committee (PAC) which will be much more open about what they do and how they spend our money. I encourage all concerned citizens to check out those efforts instead.

Link to reference for supreme court case w/ game of skill?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think nerdking is referring to some state supreme courts. I just did a search on lexis and couldn't find any reference to the U.S. supreme court deciding anything on poker. State supreme courts have ruled on the matter, but their laws are trumped by federal statute.

Please be advised I'm a mere law student

dudes...it's over.

seriously, how long did you think the "internet player turns $40 into $3.5 million" thing would be slid under the rug. there is nearly one of them on every night on espn or the travel channel or whatever. poker is so mainstream now that it was just a matter of time before the government stepped in and put a stop to it. let's just be glad we had such a good run of it and be happy. it's not the end of the world.

You can't possibly be serious?

You're saying that you endorse the moral minority in government banning a hobby enjoyed by millions?

For someone whos been here since '04 your response is surprising.

I'm not endorsing it, I'm just saying we should of seen it coming. Believe me, I think it sucks donkey balls, but what we think we can do about it, doesn't seem to be working. I think we are all screwed out of our favorite hobby/job/addiction or whatever.

I guess if you're right my computer's workload will be cut by 50%, since its one and only exclusive function will be porn.

i think this whole "ban poker" campaign has been funded by the online porn companies who have been missing out since everyone has stoped surfing porn to play poker.

however, i hear the lcd monitor companies are not happy because no one needs high res monitors any more because no one is 10 tabling while watching porn.

no one has taken me up on my money laundering offer yet either

edit: hey, that was my 1000th post.
