I would easily cap against anyone but the very tightest. I would not cold call given your situation that no one else is coming a long.

Postflop, I don't go very far if he shows aggression.

I cap here since the TAG could have a very large range, and we probably have a better hand than he and position to boot.

I don't like calling 3 cold here. I would either cap or fold. Let the TAG know you've got a good hand and are showdown bound (not that you have to be, but it will probably get him to C/F flops that he misses if you make him be OOP against a PF capper.)

[/ QUOTE ]

I like 4-betting a lot, but I think cold calling is superior to folding.

As it turned out, the threebettor had a worse ace than I did, and I thought that in this case I let one SB get away by not fourbetting preflop.

I think that in the case that I was behind preflop, I might have saved myself a bet later, so that fourbetting preflop might not cost me anything when I was behind, but when I was ahead, I probably win an extra small bet.

At the time this happened, I wasn't prepared for the situation that occurred. From my experience, I thought that the threebettor would have a pretty tight range to threebet at UTG+1, but I also realized that his range would probably get a lot wider in the allin-isolation mode.

I froze, and didn't make the right play. That's why it pays to think about these things offline, so you can recognize the situation, and make the right play without hesitation.

With position , I say cold call and see how 3 bettor wants to play it. If you catch the Q on a relatively safe board then you can raise/bet depending on what he does, and if you catch a big draw then you can milk out some more.
I think if you make it 4 bets preflop and miss then you lose a little table image.

Yes his range is wider in an isolation play, but the variance could be wider too, because it's difficult to put him on a hand.
