Everyone has this hand pretty well down. The K is either a disaster card or a dream card on the turn for him. If I bet again he will fold many many hands and checkraise with a few. I'd need a stronger read that he was a massive calling station before betting this turn with this hand. I'd bet AQ/KQ though, do you see why?.

BobT has a good point as well. Not only does checking the turn make my life easier and so on and so on it also keeps villian around and makes him more likely to call the river. With a hand like 77 or even A8 or something retarded he's WAY more likely to call a bet when it gets him a showdown then one where he's very likely behind and it's the first of two to get to showdown.

The above two reasons are enough, but there's a metagame bonus to this play as well. Most players won't understand the subtley of this play and it will just make you harder to read from their point of view. It will make them less likely to try to bluff me on the river after similar actions and maybe a little more likely to fold to my river bluffs after I check behind on the turn.

I'd simply bet the turn and call down if raised.

goof, at live stakes that warrant posting in ss you need to bet/fold the turn.

well, ya in limit and heads up , especially with that kinda flop, u shouldnt try n slowplay at all... he may have a 3, which is rare since u raised preflop, altho it was only one more small bet to him, could have like 34s or somethin or a mid pocket pair, i would never check that turn, him having a mid pocket pair is extremely likely...i would bet all the way down.

I also love the hand as played and yes I would certainly bet AQ or KQ for all the reasons you already know.

What would your turn play have been with AA? Or JJ,TT?

Villian holding a mid pocket pair would be a reason to check the turn because villian will not be able to call a turn bet but if you show weakness he might pay you off on the river.

Squirrel,

With AA it probably should be the same, but it's closer because I beat AK instead of chopping with it.

With JJ-55 or whatever the crux of it is how would I have felt about a checkraise. Against this opponent I think I would have been able to fold most hands to a checkraise. As the pocket pair gets lower I should be more and more as more cards can come on the river that give me a loser.

Looks good, but why didnt you bet the turn? This play is only correct if your opponent has AJ, A10, AQ. Why let him catch his set or runner runner strait possibility with the AJ, A10, J10.

I wouldnt be afraid of the c/r on the turn here.
