I would like to say it is a matter of opinion, but yeah, some people actually get paid to write music, in case you weren't aware of it.

Seriously, if you think musicians get "overpaid," consider that an average professional needs to study their instrument for at least five years, break a sweat in the clubs for another five years, and in the end he or she gets at most 500k from their publishing rights, and that is if they wrote the #1 hit single and it stays at the top of the charts for 6 months.

So, yeah, tell me to stfu please. Crazy, you are probably the same person who complains about how much new music sucks, while A&R people are getting axed left and right, creating less awareness for new music and bands.

Please, some of us do have a bit of knowledge about this sort of thing. I have been a card-carrying member of ASCAP since 2001, and I take this kind of stuff personal.

dave, i don't have a problem with you being against piracy. i agree that people should get paid for their work. however, it's annoying that every time someone mentions it you post about you want their computers to die in a grease fire. we get it. just chill out & hang with us, yo.
