[ QUOTE ]
I would recommend doing the PADI courses if you haven't started yet. They are great and really add to the appreciation of breathing underwater. [/ QUOTE ] True, that whole drowning thing sucks. Sharm el Sheikh was awesome-went in 86 but someone said all the coral is bleaching out. The variety of species was incredible. FYI |

Sharm el Sheikh isn't all that great now.
Maldives has been my favourite so far. |

I've done like 30-40 dives in Puget Sound, Hawaii, and the Great Barrier Reef. I've snorkeled extensively in Grand Cayman too.
The big island is the best I've been too for semi-cheap diving that's awesome. There are tons of great shore diving sites all over the Kona coast. |

Re: Any scuba divers here?
When you are in California you should check out the Channel Islands. When I was getting certified my dive instructor said they were ranked in the top 10 most pristine places to dive. They have a good variety of dive sites and can have some great marine life. The visibility was great when I was there and I would definitely recommend it. A lot of ships leave from Ventura which isn't too far from LA so there is plenty to do. It's also close to Santa Barbara if you are looking for a more relaxed scene.
